This interesting boat was carved by hand in eastern India a few decades ago. Small wooden boats such as this one were offered to the gods before the beginning of hunting season to bring good luck and food for the village. These boats were sent on the Ganges-river filled with flowers, fruit and incense to keep the mighty powers satisfied. The carvings on the boat depict scenes of hunting. The boat is hollow on the inside and has space for flowers or other objects. Hooks with metal chains have been placed on both ends in order to hang the piece of art from the ceiling. What a fascinating piece indeed!//Ce bateau intéressant a été sculpté à la main dans l'est de l'Inde il y a quelques décennies. De petits bateaux de bois tel que celui-ci étaient offerts aux dieux avant le début de la saison de chasse pour ammener bonne fortune et nourriture au village. Ces bateaux étaient envoyé sur le Gange remplis de fleurs, de fruits et d'encens pour calmer les tous-puissants. Les gravures sur le bateaux sont des scènes de chasse. Le bateau est creux à l'intérieur et a de l'espace pour des fleurs ou autres objets. Des crochets avec des chaines de métal ont été placés aux deux extrémités afin d'accrocher cette pièce d'art au plafond. Une pièce d'art fascinante!
